They are all parents of children or children living with a neuro-musculoskeletal condition, and are currently members of MUSCO&#8217;s Advisory Pole. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Three times a year, this entity at the heart of the Initiative&#8217;s governance allows patients and families to be concretely involved in the reflections and actions carried out within the Initiative as a whole, and to enrich discussions by sharing their varied perspective. After all, parents remain &#8220;the best professionals for their children&#8221;, to use Caroline Marie&#8217;s expression, and being able to benefit from their advice and experiential knowledge is a valuable advantage for all MUSCO collaborators.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-picton-blue-color\">Why participate in the Advisory Pole?<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>All of us, whether we&#8217;re the mother or father of a child with special needs, or a patient ourselves, often go through moments of doubt and helplessness. And yet we keep moving forward. As part of this process, and as far as possible, the aim is to achieve a certain representativeness in terms of diagnoses, career paths, socio-professional categories and the involvement of mothers, fathers and\/or patients. True to their role as &#8220;wise people&#8221; with consultative and reflective powers, the members recruited ensure that the involvement of children and families is central to MUSCO&#8217;s actions and innovations, and that there are appropriate responses to identified needs.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-picton-blue-color\">What is the Advisory Board&#8217;s mandate?<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-carnation-color\">Provide advice, insights and recommendations with regard to the Initiative\u2019s current and upcoming projects;<\/mark><\/li><li><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-carnation-color\">Ensure that all major and joint projects carried out within the Initiative are aligned with key issues;<\/mark><\/li><li><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-carnation-color\">Advise on the Initiative\u2019s strategic directions.<\/mark><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:auto 34%\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"707\" src=\"https:\/\/musco.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/ShrinerPressRelease80of104-4-1024x707.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3289 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/musco.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/ShrinerPressRelease80of104-4-1024x707.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/musco.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/ShrinerPressRelease80of104-4-300x207.jpg 300w, https:\/\/musco.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/ShrinerPressRelease80of104-4-768x530.jpg 768w, https:\/\/musco.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/ShrinerPressRelease80of104-4-1536x1061.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/musco.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/ShrinerPressRelease80of104-4.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p><strong>Since the creation of the Advisory Pole in 2020, no fewer than 11 meetings have been organized, with an average participation rate of almost 73%<\/strong>! When you consider how busy the schedules of families of children with complex needs can be, and how heavy their mental workload can be, this is a real testament to their commitment and willingness to get involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Discussions within the Advisory Pole have helped to guide a number of projects, notably that of setting up an<a href=\"https:\/\/musco.ca\/en\/all-projects\/guidance-and-accomodation-for-families\/educational-technology\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Educational Technology<\/a> (by helping to identify the different stages of the trajectory on which the project should focus), the <a href=\"https:\/\/musco.ca\/en\/all-projects\/guidance-and-accomodation-for-families\/relay\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Relay project<\/a> (by opening up reflection on the hospital relay) and the new role of <a href=\"https:\/\/musco.ca\/en\/all-projects\/guidance-and-accomodation-for-families\/inter-establishment-navigators\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Inter-establishment Navigator<\/a> (by directing the IENs on issues of importance to families).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the members who have offered their expertise over the years, the majority of whom still sit on the Advisory Pole, are :&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Ang\u00e9lique B\u00e9lec, patient<\/li><li>Annie Pinet, mother of Mia<\/li><li>Ariane Tremblay, mother of Marion and Romain<\/li><li>Caroline Marie Fidalgo, mother of Alex Olivier<\/li><li>Christina Cando, Nayla&#8217;s mom<\/li><li>Daniel B\u00e9lec, father of Ang\u00e9lique<\/li><li>Diane Ch\u00eanevert, Philippe&#8217;s mom&nbsp;<\/li><li>Isabelle Courchesne, Ang\u00e9lique&#8217;s mom<\/li><li>Linda Moreau, Nia&#8217;s mom<\/li><li>St\u00e9phanie Renaud Beaudin, Nathan&#8217;s mom<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:19% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"239\" height=\"313\" src=\"https:\/\/musco.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Photo_Annie-Pinet.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3277 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/musco.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Photo_Annie-Pinet.jpeg 239w, https:\/\/musco.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Photo_Annie-Pinet-229x300.jpeg 229w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 239px) 100vw, 239px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>In addition, some members are involved from a more &#8220;operational&#8221; point of view, having sat or sitting on working committees for various projects, mainly collaborative projects. This enables them to play an integral part in the ideation and reflection process, at various stages of project development. They are also able to share their experience with other collaborators in the healthcare network.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-picton-blue-color\">And quite frankly, the MUSCO team couldn&#8217;t imagine these working committees without their invaluable input!
