A word on the transition by the institutions
Sustaining a Culture of Collaboration

The MUSCO Initiative has been a transformative journey for the professionals within our institutions. Reflecting on its overall impact—on patients and their families, on our colleagues and staff, and on the broader healthcare network— it is clear that considerable efforts have been made and of which we can all be collectively proud.
This initiative originated from a shared observation: children living with neuromusculoskeletal disorders and complex needs too often faced significant barriers in accessing appropriate care. It was in response to this challenge that MUSCO was launched, bringing our institutions together in close collaboration. By strengthening cooperation, we set out to streamline the care pathways for these patients. While some challenges persist, we can confidently say that much progress has been made.
Building effective collaboration and mutual understanding is never simple. And within a network like ours, it demands sustained effort at both the multidisciplinary and multisectoral levels. In this regard, the commitment demonstrated by professionals across our institutions has been exceptional. Contributors came from a wide range of roles and backgrounds. In addition to doctors, nurses, and rehabilitation professionals, the Initiative increasingly drew upon the expertise of other departments and categories of staff. Thanks to the collective efforts of all these individuals, real and tangible outcomes have been achieved of which we can all be proud.
Whether through the recruitment of new talent, the creation of dedicated positions, training of professionals, acquisition or development of equipment, establishment of committees, initiation or support for various research projects—every action has been driven by a common goal: improving the experience of families. They have always been central to our mission. From the beginning, they have worked alongside us—offering insights, helping to shape the Initiative, and guiding its direction. They have been true partners every step of the way, from the very start of the Initiative and have been on our side to reflect, build and move projects along.
Just as we extend our sincere thanks to our teams for their commitment, we would also like to express our deep gratitude to all the parents who have contributed their time, energy, and personal experiences over the years. Whether through participation in working groups or in MUSCO’s governance, your lived expertise has been invaluable in helping us better understand and serve you.
Beyond the many tangible achievements of the Initiative, one fundamental lesson must remain at the core of our future efforts: the importance of openness and attentive listening to those we support—patients and their families.
The collective learning and shared expertise developed through MUSCO are too valuable to be set aside. We are committed to ensuring that the spirit of collaboration continues well beyond the formal conclusion of this Initiative.
Thank you for these years of shared work—and for those still to come.
