1st edition of the MUSCO Conference for pediatric volunteers
an initiative to strengthen the support of complex care in hospitals

Within the framework of the Relay Project, the very first edition of the MUSCO conference will be held on June 1st. This event is primarily intended for pediatric volunteers working in the Initiative’s partner institutions who are interested in working with patients with special needs. This day will be a unique opportunity to learn more about the support that can be provided to families whose child requires complex care during their hospital visit.
The objective is to offer volunteers a privileged moment of exchange where they will be sensitized to the issues faced by these families and where they will be able to share their respective realities and help each other.
On the program:
- Conferences allowing for the sharing of expertise by professionals from different backgrounds and offering testimonials from families;
- Workshops to stimulate the exchange of ideas and tips as well as reflections on volunteering;
- Panels to open the discussion on the essence of volunteering, the needs of families and volunteers and the promotion of collaboration between professionals and volunteers.
The various themes that will be addressed include the family and child ecosystem, challenges encountered in the hospital, medical conditions, positive interaction, accompaniment and trust.
For the first edition of this conference, a series of information capsules in complex care will be launched, entitled: “Supporting families in the hospital setting”, to enable volunteers to respond to the various needs that children and their families may experience during their stay in the hospital.
